The Kefalonia airport is situated in the area of Svoronata, 9 kilometres from Argostoli, capital of the island. The transfer time between the airport and the capital is only a few minutes by car; but because of the large size of Kefalonia (it is the largest island of the Ionian Islands), some resorts or villages can be separated by a distance over 50 kilometres from the airport. No public buses are available from or for the airport but cars can be rented there and taxis are waiting outside to serve the visitors. Many hotels and rooms (or apartments or studios) for rent propose the transfer to the airport by private mini buses.
The island of Kefalonia can be reached by plane from many international airports via Athens.
Daily flights are effectuated to and from Athens and take about 45 minutes.
